5 Stars Brilliantly Funny
This book has remained one of my favorites since reading it in high school ~5 years ago. I have re-read it multiple times, seen it live & as a movie, and never seem to tire of Wilde’s excellent knack for satire.

It is a quick & fun read full of irony and hilariously awkward situations. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys play-format comedies with strong irony.

I love this play. I love Oscar Wilde. The wit and humor of this play is astounding, and yet at the same time, it is so intelligent. I love it.

3 Stars Audio CD is abridged on one CD
I have not listened to this audio CD version. I purchased it and returned it without listening to it. I opened the case and realized that this is an abridged radio play version on one CD. The play itself is delightful. I don’t care for abridged versions of most material, certainly not a play that takes less than 90 minutes in its entirety. I urge Amazon to update the catalog entry to indicate that this is abridged. An unabridged version is available from other vendors. Thank-you.

5 Stars Hilarius!
I bought this script because I have so enjoyed the movie based on it. The English humor is brilliant and it is delightful to get to read it in probably less than an hour. This was pure enjoyment for me for no other reason than not missing a syllable of the dialogue (sometimes in the movie the actors speak a little too fast, so in order to savor the humor behind the lines having them in print allows you to enjoy them at your own pace)

5 Stars Honestly…
I still smile when I think about this play. It was my first sampling of Oscar Wilde, and I found it pretty enjoyable. It’s also been my only sampling of Oscar Wilde. I’ve been meaning to get into some more of his work, I really have. It’s a tale of mistaken identity, of love, of three volume novels, of “Bunburyists” and of fashion. Everyone claims to be Earnest, but they’re all rather trivial about it. It’s pretty funny too, with a lot of wit and the like through it.

This particular edition is particularly cheap, and it seems like its worth a look.

4 Stars A GREAT BOOK FOR A FRENCH INSTRUCTOR
This book has a few mistakes like many books in that field but it’s a great book for students to have during the class. And if you teach a French class it’s a very convenient book for reading practices and explaining French grammar rules. Vocabulary building and “les exercices” are also well done. I am a French native so it helps a lot for my students for readings and learning grammar rules but I found out that with this book it’s very easy and fun to teach French. Of course as a French instructor you will have to add your “savoir faire”. It worked fine so far, using this book some of my students (motivated – no previous studies in French – age range: 25/30) became fluent in less than a year, with a good command of the language within 5 months.

When you order that book make sure to order the new revised edition (1990)- ISBN 0385265212 (too bad Amazon does not show the ISBN number when you order a used book).

I was very pleased when I received this used book in such good condition. It looked the same as if I had purchased it new from the store. I wish you could speed up the delivery time, then it would be perfect.It took 10 days to get to me.

There is an abundance of good material in this book, including
many French language passages. If I could be listening to an
audio tape while reading the words, it would be so much better.
There is not enough pronunciation aid in the book. There could
be twice as much.

Starts out with french on one side of the page and english on the other. Reviews a conversation in different ways and you feel as though you’ve gained a pretty good understanding before it moves to the next chapter or thing.

1 Star Very Poor, and Confusing
Even though this book gives decent information about French pronunciation, which is a very useful way to not only learn how to speak the language, but have a grasp on how to say new vocabulary as well, it starts getting confusing once it just randomly jumps into passages, expecting the reader to all of a sudden know how to comprehend the written language without grasping grammar first. Maybe it would have been useful with the aid of an audio CD, but unfortunately it doesnt have it. And another problem with this book is the way it randomly presents new vocab when it has nothing to do with the context of the passages. Possibly a beginner can get through this book, but it would unfortunately be a long and tedious chore that will eventually bore one out of their mind! There are so many great french learning books out there, and this is NOT one of them!

The previous review makes no sense to me. This is not just chords; it’s a standard pop score with melody, guitar chords and keyboard arrangement. Contains some great early Jackson songs, “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back,” and others.

I was first given this little book by the CEO of our company. I have given it away and replaced it numerous times. It is worth rereading annually as it helps us to remember all the things we already know – like “Keep Secrets, Remember People’s Names, Don’t Expect Money to Bring You Happiness and Never Eat the Last Cookie”.

A real winner!

3 Stars Generally good except for one…
This is an entertaining enough book with a mix of cheesy sentiments, some cliches but overall good messages to live by,…except for No. 433: “Have a friend who owns a truck.” Seems a bit shallow and deceptive to befriend someone solely for times when you need to move or haul something away. Ever hear of U-Haul or Ryder?

My brother sent me an email supposedly repeating a mantra from the Dalai Lama. The email asked 4 questions of life. Your answers were supposed to reveal your true spiritual disposition about a number of things. In the email, was supposedly a link to the Dalai Lama’s thoughts about the Millenium. The list of “twenty thoughts” actually turned out to have been culled from a much larger list originally penned by H. Jackson Brown Jr. A little diligence brought me to the source of this wonderful knowledge..Brown’s “Complete Life’s Little Instruction Book”. I believe that Brown has distilled much of what is written in many books of wisdom down into one-liner tibits that are delightfully instructive. For me, they are a reminder to live my utmost for God’s highest. I have been looking for more spiritual planks for the human shipyard that I am building. Just by reading the many great reviews of this little book, I see much treasure that I can add to my shipyard’s cargo. I would reccomend this book to anyone who lives to benefit the lives of others. My first order is six copies to give as gifts (Nothing is really yours until you give it away). Priceless!!!

Life’s Little Instruction Book: 511 Suggestions, Observations, and Reminders on How to Live a Happy and Rewarding Life

This is a great book full of common sense homilies applicable to everyday life. If you have any children it is a must have for each and every one. It even appeals to adults to remind them of the lessons they learned from their parents and some times forget with the passage of time. Makes for a wonderful refresher on how to live the good life as well as how to interact with your fellow man. Highly recommended!

I ordered six of these as graduation presents for a group of high school students. Regardless of whether you are 17 or 70, though, this pithy collection of wisdom resonates and offers sound and inspiring insights for us all. The sayings range from Big Picture (”Don’t expect life to be fair ..”) to the micro (” Don’t leave your car keys in the ignition.”)

Not only a great and inexpensive gift book or stocking-stuffer, but a treat to dip into again and again!

1 Star I don’t think many arabs and Muslims will buy this!
An article in this book, entitled “The Great War on Militant Islam” by Andrew McCarthy, is very alarming. Not only is the inaccuracy of the article disturbing, but also the language used in reference to Arabs and Muslims is extremely racist. Below is an excerpt from the text.

“Christianity and Judaism in particular – regard themselves, like Islam regards itself, as a final, divinely revealed truth. Yes, they too proselytize, and they have their occasional religiously motivated murderers. But those are aberrational and instantly condemned by the rest of the faithful. On the Planet Earth today, only Islam sports an unbridled faction that systematically inculcates hatred, systematically dehumanizes non-adherents, and systematically kills massively and indiscriminately.”

Surely if the editors allow this sort of thing to get through, then the rest of us must question the validity of other articles in the rest of the book!

3 Stars The Book Set is great, the treasure chest container damaged in shipping twice.
We purchased the book set for our son for Christmas. The first set was sent back because the “treasure chest” carton was torn in several places, even though the shipping container appeared undamaged. The replacement “treasure chest” was in even worse shape, even though the second shipping container appeared undamaged. Rather than fuss with shipping it back again, we purchased a wooden “treasure chest” from a world market to place the book set in. We’re satisfied now and the books look even nicer stored in the wooden chest.

5 Stars Thoughts on My Family: The Jacksons by Katrherine Jackson
I found it so refreshing to read a book about the first family of Pop Music without all the tabloid garbage. Katherine tells the story from her POV which is the truth. After all she experienced everything first hand as the Matriarch of the Jacksons. She starts off with her own childhood to the infamous to do with Latoya in 1989 struggling all the while to keep the family together.

It is a heartwarming and straight forward story that only a mother can tell and Katherine does an excellent job on it. My wish is that she would write a sequel so that she can up to date us all on what the family is up to now and share with us her thoughts on two of her newest and most famous grandbabies of them all, namely Prince Michael(PJ) Jackson and Paris Katherine Michael,. A very good book which I highly urge everyone to read.

Again the price is ridiculous and not worth it. I actually read this one online for free.

It took me a couple days because it started off very slow. It didn’t get quite interesting until the family moved to California.

It was very positive and it was nice of Katherine to speak about each child, their personalities, hobbies, interests etc.

It was very refreshing compared to the negative press that surrounds the family.

Although it is a bit sugarcoated, and she left out alot of details that the movie, and other children speak about, it really showed a mothers view of the family. She knows them all best.

I was literally lol@ the parts about Michael and his weird tastes and excitement he found in things we are fearful of today. He was definately very humorous. Janet was always laid back and easy going, and Latoya:Prissy. Rebbie was the mother of the group. and of course the boys focus and interest was their music.

It was nice for different members of the family to include their input in the book as well. It would be nice if Katherine would release another book soon, and update us on the past few years.

Katherine was definately her childrens biggest fans, and that I found to be very sweet and supporting. Even at the age of 60 she spoke about being on the road with Janet, and still managing to get into the show like a 20 yr old would.

It is indeed a great read if you don’t know much about the family and would like more information.

I must confess that I read this book online and do it really quickly. I feel bored because so much of it are used in subsequent MJ books. The content is all very familiar. This is, of course, not the fault of the author.

Unlike her daughter’s book, the writing in her book is not polished, just like she wrote what she said. The part I remember most is that she has a relative working for Michael in the Dangerous Tour. That man is someone like a carpenter, responsible to build the stage. He told us some interesting side stories of the Tour. That part I did not find quoted in any other books.

Katherine is a great woman, rearing so many children with music talent, keeping in mind she has such a nasty husband. Some people may critiise her not protecting her children enough. But as a mother myself, I understand the delimma a mother is facing acting in between the husband and the kids. Afterall a woman has to be very strong and tough in case your husband is always thinking of himself rather than the kids. Chinese has a saying ‘ the Greatest Love comes from the Mother (not a father) ‘. This is so true in her family.

I enjoyed this book alot i read it to myself and my mon, it’s excellent. Katherine tells an honest heartwrenching story about her family, this comes from the person who knows them the best.She really let’s you know that her family is just as much as normal human beings as everyone else.She breaks down the families personalities in the books so you will understand them better, why Michael is so sensitive and talented, to Randy’s being independent. This is a really great book.

This is a really good book. It puts you in the right mind spiritually about how to continue to trust God even when things don’t seem to go our way AT ALL! I also like the scripture references because they give you ammuniton to use in times of spiritual trouble.

5 Stars another pleasing tale from talented author
Jackson always gives you a different read and this one is so intriguing. Alexander Dumas’s life is slightly more interesting that his one-for-all-characters that he creates. With a touch of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Dumas is a bit long-lived! He has spent centuries spinning wonderful tales, loosely based on his own life. Only true love has proved illusive over the years; not since his lady love was killed has he opened his heart. Now Harmony has entered his life and he wants to love again, only his mortal, or as they case may be immortal enemy is back, too. A quirky, complex, original tale, that is so typically like Jackson.
