I was originally drawn to this series when I noticed the captivating cover art for the first book – The Lightning Thief – while in a local Barnes & Noble.

These books are captivating. They really draw you into what’s happening. — You feel like you’re right there with them.

– If you’re looking for something to read next, try The Journey of the Nightisans by Rebecca Linam. This involves a group of young people on a quest; however, it’s not your typical “save-the-world” story.

The “leader” is not the hero. A magician in the group is allergic to magic. There are both serious and humorous aspects. It’s a lot of fun. When you’re finished, as with the Percy Jackson characters, you’re left wondering about what might happen next.

I hate 1st person books but once I started reading book 1, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. My daughter finished reading the whole set way ahead of me. She is now re-reading book 1 again and wishes there are more. Sure hope Rick Riordan is working on another even more exciting new series!
