Michael Jackson This Is It

51cmNQzcGwL. SL75 Michael Jackson This Is It

It’s hard not to watch This Is It without feeling a mixture of sorrow and elation. When he passed away in the summer of 2009, Michael Jackson was in the midst of rehearsals for his final tour, an ambitious 50-date engagement. In editing 120 hours of rehearsal footage together, Jackson producer Kenny Ortega proves that it would’ve been an event for the ages. Michael performs material that spans his career, from a Motown medley to multi-platinum hits from Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Though he hadn’t toured in 10 years, it becomes instantly apparent, despite rumors to the contrary, that Jackson was still in full possession of that unmistakable voice–high-pitched whoops and all–and that he still had the gravity-defying moves of a man half his age. Jackson and Ortega also collaborated on some real showstoppers, such as a graveyard-set “Thriller”; an imposing “They Don’t Care About Us,” in which several dancers appear to morph into thousands; and a film noir sequence in which the singer slides in and out of Gilda and other black-and-white classics, singing “Smooth Criminal” all the while. Not everything works, like the Jackson 5 numbers, in which he flubs a few lyrics, claiming that his earpiece isn’t working properly, but as he readily acknowledges, “That’s what rehearsal is for.” It’s a tragedy that he didn’t get the chance to share this dazzling show with the world, but Ortega allows fans to feel as if it actually happened–at least onscreen. –Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 Stars Thank You God, for Michael Jackson!
I was never a big fan of MJ. I never owned one of his records. I did really like his videos whenever I saw them on MTV, way back in the 80s. But other than that… Fast forward to 2009. I went to see this movie just because I love music and I was saddened to hear of Michael’s passing. Curiosity and remembering that I did like his singing & dancing. WOW, WOW, WOW! As someone said, it was sooo real. We get to see Michael while he was working, you know, just being himself, not “performing” – and what a wonderful, warm, humble, caring human being he showed himself to be. And he never knew that any of us would ever see this video footage. But by us seeing it, I know that he won those of us over, who had never payed attention to his brilliance. And that is what I now know of him, he was BRILLIANT, he was a GENIUS! So now I have bought, and watched so many times I lost count, his live performance in Bucharest, and I’ve seen the movie “This Is It” 4 times. I’ve cried during it twice. And I can’t wait for it’s release because I will surely have it in my collection and be glad to now know who was Michael Jackson. I only feel sorry that it took his death for me to pay any attention to him. But just imagine, even in death, he is still gaining new fans! And we will always miss you, Michael.

5 Stars Michael Jackson: This is it review
The new movie “Michael Jackson: This is it” is a very interesting and captivating movie. This movie is about the 50 date concert rehearsals that were supposed to take place in London. It was supposed to be Michael Jackson’s big comeback. This movie is very important because it is real footage of Michael Jackson in his final days. I would give this movie a 5/5. If you were a big fan of Michael Jackson, you should definitely go see this movie. Also, if you weren’t really a fan of Michael Jackson you should go see it anyway.

5 Stars Was never a fan before the announced O2 shows.
I had not been a fan.I had planned to get on UK ticketmaster & get some tickets to resell ‘the tickets of the century on ebay’. Then, something happened. I really did not know how it happened. Near impossible, I scored early tickets way up front to his July 2009 London shows (in March 2009). I felt fortunate & special, as if I’d won some lottery. From then on, for months I played his music in great anticipation. I bought the rest of his albums from Amazon that I didn’t have. I listened EVERY single day during my work outs & commute to work. I looked at MJ’s youtube past performances in absolute awe. I quickly became a great admirer of his. I was actually going to go make two separate one week trips/pilgrimages, from Chicago, just to see him in London. These excellent seats were going for 1k each. I would not have sold them for anything. I realized how special he really was. When he unexpectedly died,I was left with such a tremendous hole in my heart. I was incredulous. Then,…I cried. I could not understand this mania that came over me. (I loved Michael Jackson the entertainer.) I lamented so sorrowfully that I would never see his last work. I NEEDED this film. It gave me closure. Of all the tributes MJ had, no one could come close. MJ’s tribute to himself. I could not have asked for anything else. Just the opportunity to see him one last time, to see this legend perform, just one last time to spend with Michael. Just one last glimpse, for us, to be with him. “This is It.” I loved it. He was so loved, he knew how to spread love. Michael Jackson will forever be missed by the world.

5 Stars PERFECTION!!
This was the best docu-movie I seen in a long EVER!!!! When Michael died, I couldn’t believe it. To this day, I still have not fully accepted his death because it’s a hard pill to swallow. June 25, 2009 will always be embedded into my memory because it was the day I lost my icon. Hats off to Kenny Ortega for giving us this movie. He did an excellent job putting this movie together for us. Michael was a genius!!! It saddens me that Michael never got to perform this creation in front of a live audience because it would have been an awesome show. It saddens me more that he is no longer with us.

R.I.P MJ… <3 4ever.

5 Stars Lugene Haynes Altadena, California
When I learned of the death of Michael Jackson, I was shaken to my core, overcome with sadness and disbelief. After all, I watched him growing and evolving for more than four decades. The happiest moments of my life were because of, or spent in the shadow of his music. As beautiful as his July memorial was, those of us who couldn’t attend, were left to watch televisions and read news headlines, and it felt a little flat. It was for this reason that I felt I had to see This Is It, to say a final and personal goodbye to a man whose talent and benevolent nature did so much to change the music industry and the world at large.

I must say, though I knew that the movie was more of a commercial venture, than a tribute, I was surprised and pleased at how thoughtfully and respectfully the film was produced and presented. The side of Michael that ordinary fans never got to see, the consummate professional who, although he always strove for perfection, never resorted to cruelty or temper to get get what he wanted or needed from his crew, was always present. Although he was thinner and showing signs of age, he was as graceful and light on his feet as he ever was and his voice was strong and sweetly clear, and he good-naturedly chided everyone for making him use it,as he was “saving it for the actual concerts.” I fervently wish that the media had presented this side of him to the pubic, instead of portraying him as a drugged-out eccentric whose career was on the skids. Had these concerts come to fruition, Michael would’ve have at last known what we, his true and loyal fans have never doubted—that he was indeed, a kind loving man who gave so much of himself to the world, and was and will be for all time, the undisputed King of Pop. Good-bye, my dear Michael and thanks— for everything.

5 Stars LOVED IT
I really enjoyed this dvd. The only problem was Smooth Criminal, I didn’t really liked what they did to it. Smooth Criminal has a lot of his dancing and it looked liked they just fast forward through the whole dance routine. Why did I rate it a 5, because I just love Michael Jackson.

5 Stars Great
My family and I sat down and watched this togeather. This was great we really enjoyed it. Michael does awesome work. The video was not to long at all, it left you wanting more so see. I had never seen Blood on the dance floor when I saw it, it blew me away. The one thing my son said to me is that no matter who is in the video with Michael, he always draws your eyes back to him and that is so true.

I LOVED IT

5 Stars Need Proof…Michael At His Best
Watching him from early in his career to his later videos is truly a keeper. This is proof positive that he is/was definitely “THE ONE.”

5 Stars Dirty Diana alone makes up for this!
OK so this is essentially a collection of his top music videos! I know some of them are redundant especially if you have History Vol 1 and 2 BUT you should really get this. Why? DIRTY DIANA music video alone makes this a worthy purchase AND You Rock My World!!!

No other DVDs have these two music videos! He looks super hot and sexy in Dirty Diana music video so that alone is your reason to get this dvd!

5 Stars Great purchase & excellent condition!
This purchase was worth every penny and came in a timely manner in good condition. Great purchase!

A Time to Kill

A Time to Kill

518Y6A1QG8L. SL75 A Time to Kill

You wouldn’t know it by watching the Batman movies they collaborated on, but this smart adaptation of John Grisham’s novel proves that director Joel Schumacher and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman have some talent when the right project comes along. Schumacher had previously directed Grisham’s The Client, and brought equal craft and intelligence to this story about a young Southern attorney (Matthew McConaughey, in his breakthrough role) who defends a black father (Samuel L. Jackson) after he kills two men who raped his young daughter. Sandra Bullock plays the passionate law student who serves as McConaughey’s legal aide and voice of conscience in the racially charged drama. Added to the star power of the lead roles is a fine supporting cast, including Kevin Spacey, Ashley Judd, and Oliver Platt. –Jeff Shannon

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Lynching is okay…if it’s done for politically correct reasons.
“A Time to Kill” is in my opinion an abomination of a movie. It asks the audience to say that a man whose daughter is viciously raped by two subhumans is entitled to illegally obtain an M-16 automatic rifle, hide in the courthouse where the two accused rapists are being arraigned, and then fire said M-16 on full automatic, killing not only the two suspects (who are handcuffed and sitting ducks) but also grievously wounding a police officer who was escorting them.

What makes all of this okay to Grisham, the author of the novel “A Time to Kill” and to the producers of this movie is that the suspected rapists are white and the victim of their assault and her father are black. Somehow, that makes it all okay. It’s almost as if Grisham and company think that black people are entitled to carry out a few lynchings because they’ve frequently been the victims of them. “A Time to Kill” carries this out to ludicrous extremes…even the police officer wounded in the indiscriminate assault forgives the father…despite the fact that he had to have a leg amputated because of the wound he sustained in the attack. If I was an innocent bystander who was injured in attack like that, it wouldn’t matter if the killer had the best reasons in the world to do what he did…I wouldn’t be able to just write off the loss of my leg to good will.

For those who think this mercifully fictional story is a good one with a satisfactory ending (the killer gets a walk), I have a challenge for them…switch around the races. If the killer and his daughter were white and the two perps were black would that still make for a good story? Hardly…from coast to coast, the politically correct would be denouncing “A Time to Kill” as a justification of lynching (which it is). And God forbid if something like it ever happened in real life. Reverend Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would never shut up about how justice had been subverted.

Think about what this movie asks us to endorse. A horrible rape of a child takes place. The law apprehends two men who probably did it. The justice system spools up in all of its majesty to determine their guilt or innocence and exact justice. But the murderer who Grisham and company ask us to embrace says “Sorry, I won’t wait around for that” and kills the two suspected rapists while they are in handcuffs before the justice system has even been given a chance to act (if the movie had had the father killing them after the justice system failed “A Time to Kill” might have been an interesting and worthwhile movie). And he does so in a courthouse and in a manner where any number of innocent people (besides the police officer who was turned into a cripple by him) could have been killed or injured. And Grisham and the makers of this movie ask us to believe that his acquittal is “justice.”

Maybe it is for them, but it sure isn’t for me. So if you believe in equal application of the law and abhor vigilante action and lynchings, avoid this movie.p

4 Stars Blu-Ray Review
This movie looks very good on blu-ray and you don’t have to flip it over half way through viewing like the standard dvd……..lol

A good price on Amazon too.

5 Stars Very Dramatic
This is a very good dramma. this movie is really good. samul l. jackson is awesome in this movie. this is a must see

5 Stars The scary thing is, it’s still happening today
“A Time to Kill” still can’t be more true to what’s happening in the United States of America. Even now as an African-American man has become our president, we still have violent racist acts occurring especially in the South. Why is there so much hate and violence? This film touches on these sorts of subjects. Samuel L. Jackson stars as a man who has been charged for the murder of two white men who have raped his ten-year old daughter. What happens next is an ongoing conflict in the state of Mississippi that involves the color of our skins. The real question here is: Was it right or wrong for Carl Lee to kill those who have plagued his family in the first place?

Before the atrocious “Batman and Robin,” Joel Schumacher directed this masterpiece with no homoerotic overtones, no idiotic one-liners, and no flashy lights. This is pure reality that’s filled with strong and realistic issues. Jackson, Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Spacey, Kiefer & Donald Sutherland, and Patrick McGoohan all give very outstanding performances. I’m still surprised that none of these people were even nominated for an oscar. All in all, this is a provocative motion picture that deserves an A.

1 Star DVD doesn’t work
I ordered this and it didn’t work. Paid for two day shipping. Got a replacement – took a week and it had the same thing wrong with it. But, never got credit for my first one and next one wasn’t a charge – so no refund. Would like to contact them to see if I’ll get credit on the first one, but – I can’t find where I can would contact Amazon.

Also, found out I was charged $79 for their prime shipping which I NEVER signed up for. I probably order less than 10 items a year from Amazon. Very disgusted and doubt I’ll come here first to buy anything. Definitely won’t buy any dvd’s from them.

Still haven’t gotten to see the movie. I had just finished the book and wanted to see the movie right after it.

Curious to see if they print the reviews that don’t make them look good.

5 Stars Great movie!!!
This movie is really amazing!!!!! The plot is so ingenious, with little twists and unexpected turns here and there. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole movie, wondering what would happen next. All the characters are played really well with exceptional actors (George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts to name a few). I did not expect the end of the movie, and I thought it was really funny and smart. If you want a good thriller, this is it. Danny Ocean truly picked an amazing eleven. :)

4 Stars Beginning to a great collection
The beginning of Ocean’s crew.

Brad Pitt & George Clooney are great together.

4 Stars Nostalgic but slightly disappointing
The first film of the Ocean saga, trilogy, so far, The first one is the prototype and prototype it is. One simple situation. A casino in Las Vegas. A complicated security set up but nothing impregnable because impregnable is not in Hollywood’s dictionary. A whole set of gangsters led by Brad, Matt and George, and enjoying themselves very much. Of course they succeed with a little bit of high tech. And they stage the whole thing for the casino entrepreneur who falls in the trap of what he sees on his video cameras and on his surveillance screens and then he finds out he has been tricked and that the bill of the trick is something around 163 million dollars, maybe less, maybe more, who knows, but sure more than the trick his female, or male, employees are selling to the hotel and casino customers. It is apparently easy to lure this business gangster or this gangster businessman: flatter his vain and arrogant ego by flattering his security because he believes he has the best security in the world, and then you can go through. Apart from that tricky complicated situation, the film is very simple, if not ordinary. But after all it is only a matrix: it has to remain simple to breed good sequels, and this one bred two sequels. Good entertainment, for the actors too I guess.

4 Stars Good fun with Clooney and Pitt
Well, it’s no cinematic masterpiece, but it’s definitely good for some laughs, and there are points of creative writing. This is the kind of movie that I like to call “airplane movies”. Still, a good movie to add to anyone’s collection.

4 Stars Watch It For George and Brad Alone
This movie is nothing more than an excuse for George and Brad to wear snappy suits and exchange equally snappy dialogue (I love the bit about rehearsing a speech). If you don’t like these guys, don’t bother, but if you even like them a little bit, you owe it to yourself to buy this. It is well worth it.

5 Stars Editorial Review?
Who’s the idiot who wrote the editorial review? “There isn’t much to recommend this film” get a life dope!

5 Stars An Indispensable Seasonal Favourite…
Statistically speaking, “A Christmas Carol” appears to be my favourite story of all time, as I own no less than four different film interpretations of it on DVD, and it must be said that I adore each and every one of them (whether they star the likes of Alastair Sim, Michael Caine, Bill Murray, or the star of this version, Albert Finney).

It must be said though, the interpretation that I reach for most regularly is this version, directed by veteran British stalwart, Ronald Neame (who also directed the British screen classics, “Blithe Spirit”, “In Which We Serve” and “Great Expectations”) and featuring songs and music by Leslie Briscusse (who penned classics such as “The Candy Man” from “Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory” and “Talk To The Animals” from “Doctor Dolittle”) and I think this can be ascribed not only to the stellar cast (which features the likes of Sir Alec Guinness, Dame Edith Evans, Kenneth More, David Collings, Anton Rodgers, Gordon Jackson, Roy Kinnear and Geoffrey Bayldon) but to the truly spooky atmosphere of bleakness that pervades the film. Neame, in the best traditions of the festive Ghost story, really doesn’t pull any punches in putting the supernatural at the front and centre of his interpretation and goes to some very dark places in the course of this film (including a brief – and very literal – excursion to hell) – a stylistic decision which may alarm some younger viewers, but which ultimately makes the miserly Ebeneezer Scrooge’s redemption all the more joyous and important.

That said, let me assure any prospective viewers who I may have inadvertently put off, that this film is a joyous celebration of redemption, forgiveness and charity and features a brilliant central performance from a virtually unrecognisable Finney who completely envelops himself in the role of the world’s most famous miser.

Likewise the songs are superbly memorable: “I Hate People” is a perfect (and hilariously funny) misanthropic ballad; “See The Phantoms” is a brief but gloriously spooky sliver of supernatural menace; “December The 25th” is a roistering encapsulation of the gregarious Fezziwig’s philosophy; “You…You” is one of the most hauntingly sad odes to regret, lost love and roads not taken ever written; “I Like Life” is a fiercely caustic affirmation of just that sentiment in the hands of Kenneth More, and “I’ll Begin Again” is a breathlessly joyous hymn to the possibility of second chances.

It must be said though, my all time favourite song from this film is Anton Rodger’s epic coffin borne performance of “Thank You Very Much” – largely because it was my late paternal grandfather’s favourite song and tears are still want to prick my eyes whenever I hear it (but in a good way).

If you’ve never seen this version of “A Christmas Carol”, I recommend it unreservedly. It really is one of the finest ever made and, as has been previously mentioned, is certainly in my top four. ;)

5 Stars Scrooge Lover!!!
This movie has to be one of the most amazing movies ever! I have grown up watching it every Christmas and I just can’t ever get enough of it. It’s a must see!

5 Stars Mandatory viewing for the holidays!
I debated on writing a review for this movie, thinking it would be a bit redundant, since the average shopper can tell very easily from the collective reviews of this film the level of quality that it is at, but what the heck.

This is the version of “A Christmas Carol” that I was introduced to and was raised on. My father is a huge Dickens aficionado, and I remember listening to the record with Lionel Barrymore playing Scrooge when I was very little. It was years before this movie was even released on VHS, so you had to be lucky to catch it on cable television or the rare time it was aired on network television in the late 70’s and early 80’s. My dad has and always will insist that the Alastair Sim version is the definitive telling of this great story, and it probably is, but again, it took years for it to even arrive on VHS, let alone DVD.

At any rate, this movie is a complete masterstroke, and is a must-own for every family for viewing during the holidays. It is just as important as White Christmas, It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle On 34th Street, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. Some people have been critical of this film due to the fact that it is a musical, but that is just part of the charm, and only adds to the quality of the production as a whole. Albert Finney won a Golden Globe for his performance here, and it’s easy to tell why – one thing I love about this movie, compared to most of the other versions, is that Finney played Scrooge as a young man, and as an old man – this is one of the main reasons the film is so good. It is a very authentic, true, “British” film…the authenticity of the setpieces, the cinematography, the casting, the acting…it’s all top notch. And the special effects, while sparse, are phenomenal for when it was made. Check out how awesome the scene is where Marley’s face appears at Scrooge’s outer door and the subsequent fadeaway. The score was also brilliantly written, and the songs make you feel good and help to engage you in the story even further. I feel that this is the last, true, great adaptation of this story, be it film, television, or stage…all the George Lucas magic in hollywood these days is never going to produce a piece of art that will surpass the quality of this film. I have watched it every year on Christmas Eve for the past 20 years, and I still get choked up a half a dozen times throughout this movie, especially during some of the songs. Again, this movie is a must-own and a complete masterpiece of filmmaking.

5 Stars A Family Christmas Classic and tradition!
My 2 daughters and I began a tradition of watching this movie every Dec 23rd, over 20 years ago. I think the editorial review of this movie is terribly wrong. The music is absolutely wonderful! We especially love the scene of Scrooge’s debtors singing “Thank you Very much”. We hum the tune for days after viewing it, and the scenes are very memorable and funny!

My daughters are now age 30 and 32, and they want to watch this every year but it is rarely on TV. We have purchased over 3 DVD’s of this because they scratched over the years from frequent use. I went to the movies and watched Disney’s Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey, and was very disappointed. If you have small children, and like musicals, I recommend saving your money, and staying home to watch this version. you will be sure to avoid nightmares, and will have a great vehicle to bond with your family! It is a wonderful experience with great characters!

5 Stars Michael Jacksons Dangerous DVD
This video is great. You watch all the good music and entertainment while also watching the changes over the years with M. J. If you are a fan this is a wonderful video.

4 Stars Boy, that Michael sure is Dangerous!
Brace Yourselves – I love it when they open these DVD’s with a Brace Yourselves intro. Cause God only knows that you need to brace yourself in preperation of what you’re about to see. And this DVD is no different — and Michael really can’t do anything small, it’s ALWAYS big surrounding him and dealing with him, isn’t it?

Black or White – This is one of Michael’s ultimate video’s, especially from the 1990’s. And the appearance of a young Macauly Culkin does wonders for the video too, especially when he lip-sync’s the rap in the song. I just can’t say too much good about this video, mainly because of the message Michael is trying to give if you’ll just listen to the song, and the video is a perfect example of what that message is. “I’m not gonna spend my life bein’ a color…”

Grammy Legend Award 1993 – Okay, firstly, I love how soft-spoken and shy Michael is to be such a superstar, especially in 1993. And I love how he stands up with his arm around Janet and says, “I hope this puts to rest some of the rumors…” When the rumors were going around that he and Janet were the same person. Anyway, this is a deserved accolade for Jackson, and I’m glad they included it in this DVD.

Heal The World (Superbowl XXVII Halftime Show) – The card stunt is amazing, the performance is amazing. I love it. The only thing that would’ve been better would be having included the ENTIRE halftime show, but, to be honest, since this was the highlight of the halftime show anyway, I can see what they were doing, so I won’t complain too much.

Remember The Time – I’ve already given my stance on this video plenty of times in the past, but I’ll say it one more time — I love the appearance of Eddie Murphy, the Egyptian theme, and the fact that Michael can take a song about heartbreak and turn it into a dancing number. Only Michael could do that.

Will You Be There – I love this video. And it delivers a good message, just like Black or White does. You just have to listen to the song and pay attention to both the song and the video to get what that message is.

In The Closet – My favorite song from Dangerous, and probably my favorite video from Dangerous. It’s a rollicking track with a rollicking video that just has to be seen to be believed.

Gone Too Soon – The song and video that was dedicated to Ryan White. Just like Black or White and Will You Be There before it, this is a video and a song that gives a good message — a good message that’s easy to get if you’ll actually pay attention to both the song and the video.

NAACP Image Awards – Another award that Michael deserved, and one award that he probably should’ve gotten a whole lot sooner than what he had.

Jam – How can you go wrong with a video that has both the King of Pop and the King of Basketball in it? I mean…seriously? Michael tries to teach Jordan how to dance, and Jordan tries to teach Michael how to shoot basketball. It’s the perfect plot for a perfect song and video.

Heal The World – This is the regular video of Heal The World, and it’s one of those video’s. And, by one of those video’s, I mean it’s one of those tear-jerker video’s, regardless of if you want it to be or not.

Give In To Me – I’m not a big fan of this video. I don’t know why, so don’t ask me, but it never tickled my fancy. I love the song, though. So I won’t complain too much.

I’ll Be There – I LOVE this video. I love Michael in this video. I love how the video is setup and played out. I’m giving nothing away, but it’s another one of my favorites on this collection.

Who Is It – This is another one of my favorite songs on Dangerous, and it’s another one of my favorite video’s on this compilation. Only Michael could pull songs and video’s like this off. Nobody else will ever compare. Ever.

Dangerous – The way to close the video would, naturally, of course be “Dangerous.” I love the song, I love the video, and Michael goes out of his way to prove that he is dangerous as they come.

I love this compilation. I think it ranks a little bit lower than the two HIStory compilation’s, but that’s still saying something, because it’s not a bad compilation of video’s and award ceremonies at ALL.

5 Stars A Michael Jackson Masterpiece
I was blown away by the sheer magnitude of genius displayed in these videos. Some I had never seen. I will move this to the top of my collection.

5 Stars Now this was awesome!
This was awesome! I purchased both video history’s and the dangerous concert. I am so glad that I purchased this one as well. You will be entertained.

5 Stars michael jackson

when the vhs first came out many years ago I was able to purchse it. Now that there are dvd I glad I was also able to have that. I just love it

5 Stars A VERY GOOD CAST!
THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE WITH A GOOD CAST, THAT WILL ENTERTAIN YOU, IT HAS A GOOD PLOT AND STICK’S TO IT.

5 Stars I love this movie
You know the story, this is a remake of a classic that is a classic. I just love it. It moves so well, provides comedy, suspense good acting and everything else. Clooney is the natural leader here with a mysterious, yet gorgeous Julia Roberts playing one of her best parts, subtle, but necessary. This bunch of nuts and misfits (not really), get the last laugh, Clooney almost gets the boot because, Pitt finds out about some of his motives. Just one of those flicks that you can watch 5 times and still see something new.

4 Stars Entertainment, Vegas style
Like Vegas itself, Ocean’s 11 is thick with mega-watt stars, sleek surfaces and slick glamour, a well oiled, corporately produced money-making machine, cleverly designed to appeal to male and female fantasies alike (yes ladies, there’s someone here for just about everyone). None of it goes very deep or very far (as has been noted, the plot is hole-y as a showgirl’s fishnets), but that was never the point. As long as you don’t confuse fantasy with reality, and do something stupid like bet the mortgage or mistake this for anything other than a slick, vaguely seedy but mildly charming entertainment, a good time will be had by all.

5 Stars exactly what I expected!
The service was great and the movie was in new condition. And the movie was good also.

5 Stars Danny boy, oh Danny boy.
I have been a fan of this video for a long time. I was so pleased to see it released on blu-ray. The transfer looks amazing, especially the dark lighted casino scenes. The movie itself is a 5/5, with a great cast, superb script, and awesome editing. This is a must have for any blu ray owner, or movie fanatic. You will not be disappointed.

The Golden Girls The Complete Fifth Season

The Golden Girls The Complete Fifth Season

51G2LsSaVjL. SL75 The Golden Girls The Complete Fifth Season

It’s a good sign when a new year begins with Jeffrey Tambor (The Larry Sanders Show, Arrested Development) and ends with Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap, The Simpsons). Tambor shows up as Dorothy’s doctor in the The Golden Girls two-part fifth season premiere (”Sick and Tired”). Unfortunately, he isn’t able to determine why she’s feeling run down, so she pays a visit to Empty Nest’s Dr. Weston (Richard Mulligan, who returns a few episodes later). Blanche (Rue McClanahan), meanwhile, decides to become a romance novelist, despite the fact that she can’t write. Dorothy (Bea Arthur) will eventually find out she has chronic fatigue syndrome (an affliction shared by writer/creator Susan Harris, who’ll soon exit the show), while the flighty Blanche will retire from writing as suddenly as she took it up. Then she’ll get the news that her daughter, Rebecca, has decided to become a single mother–via artificial insemination. Blanche is aghast. As for Rose, she’ll get a new job as the assistant to a consumer affairs reporter and find second love with professor Miles Webber (Harold Gould). Other guests during the 1989-1990 season include Dick Van Dyke (”Love Under the Big Top”), Robert Culp (”Like the Beep Beep Beep of the Tom-Tom”), and a pre-Law & Order Jerry Orbach (”Cheaters”). Then there’s Shearer (”The President’s Coming! The President’s Coming!”), who provides the voice for the first George Bush. Also, Marc Cherry, the man behind Desperate Housewives, receives his first writing credit, while Mark Moses–now best known as the murderous Rex–appears as Blanche’s stepson. Unlike previous sets, this collection includes commentary from Arthur, McClanahan, and White. –Kathleen C Fennessy

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars “The Final Good Season of “The Golden Girls”"
Like most television programs entering their fifth year on the air “The Golden Girls” started to lose some of its shine, mainly from the fact that their beloved group of headwriters left the series at the end of the fourth year to pursue other projects. However, the chemistry among the cast was still there and Terry Hughes’ excellent directing continued, but the scripts were not as original and funny as in previous years. Still, season five is worth having as there are some innovative stories that were told. The season opening was a two-parter called “Sick and Tired” in which Dorothy can’t understand why she is always tired and without energy. “72 Hours” was a topical episode for its day as Rose is informed that she may have come in contact with the AIDS virus from a blood transfusion. Also this season Harold Gould gets a recurring role as Rose’s new boyfriend and Dick Van Dyke guest stars as a flame of Dorothy’s. 26 episodes are included in this set and the series showed that it was still mighty in the ever important Nielsen ratings as the “The Golden Girls” ended the 1989-1990 season at #6.

5 Stars Yet Still More Golden Greats
Season Five continues with some of the best TV comedy ever seen in the eighties. Golden Girls remains one of the best shows of its time – and even now! If you are not in to forgetting your problems and laughing your guts out, then this show isn’t for you… and that would have to be a big mistake.

This season must not be missed. This is one of the few shows I can watch over and over and still laugh at the same gags. Timeless!!!

5 Stars Highly Entertaining!
A wonderful show, especially for adults — or even young adults! As an ensemble, these ladies can really act, in my view, and the storylines are well-written; important social issues are touched upon in each episode, and with all of these things together, makes for an absolutely unique & eloquent show — with both humor and compassion. I’ve found that most every episode shows a very moral approach to many ‘taboo’ subjects. I have watched every single episode & never tire of my ‘Girls.’

5 Stars must
a “must have”! but no subtitles (but the English ones) for European countries (nor zone 2 DVD either)

5 Stars You won’t be disappointed!
Fantastic! I haven’t been disappointed by any Golden Girls DVD’s I have ordered from Amazon.com. I own every season and watch them all the time! Great when you need a laugh.

The quality of the DVD’s is excellent and the delivery was speedy and efficient. Which I have become accustom to when ordering from Amazon.com

5 Stars *Great Buy!*
I bought the Mighty Ducks Box Set for my boyfriend as a gift and we both absolutely love it! These movies are classics! Definitely a great buy! =)

4 Stars Decent Quality
The films are good but the DVD’s are junky. The sound is decent but the video is something between dvd and vhs quality. Your gonna have to play around with the display settings on your dvd player on the first film to get it to view in widescreen with no bars. Overall decent purchase.

5 Stars great movies
I own all three movies and it is fun to see how the characters change after a few years in between in of the movies.

1 Star Monkeys Go Home
I love The Mighty Ducks movies, and was so excited to buy the boxed set. I watched the first two movies and went to watch the third. Everything was completely normal until the menu came up, and the movie on the disk turned out not to be the third Mighty Ducks, but another movie, “Monkeys Go Home.” I don’t know what type of error this was, and I hope that it has not happened very frequently, because, frankly, I was quite ticked. I hope this problem hasn’t happened to any of you…who wants to see “Monkeys Go Home” when you attempt to watch “The Mighty Ducks?”

5 Stars great collectors item
this is a good movie to have if you like the old school kid movies, the movies that we all grew up with and the kids nowadays should be watching.

4 Stars Just like a transaction should be…..
Good price, great service, product delivered without any damage, and quickly! Would definetly buy from again.

5 Stars Summed up in one word…PERFECT.

Lord of the Rings, the `Gone with the Wind’ of the sci-fi fantasy film. The name of these 3 legendary novels has weaved itself deeply into our modern day culture. Whether you read `The Hobbit’ in grade school or have read the Tolkien lore time and time again there is no doubt that this original saga is a treasure of that last century.

Turning this epic novel saga into a full length feature film was something that probably every major name in directing wanted to do. Yet, Lord of the Rings may be the most difficult film saga to be created. The story is abundant with characters of all kinds. The plot is rich with detail and the pages of the book themselves describe everything from the way a person walks to a town or landscape down to the last grain of soil. So it was Peter Jackson who decided to rise up and take the task of creating this film. In a time where film making technology has reached a golden age it was time not just to make one film but make a trilogy. It was decided not to film each piece at a time but rather film all three simultaneously and it was something that Mr. Jackson could not accomplish alone. There is a long list of writers, artists, actors editors, and yes millions of fans that lead to the completion of this project. The Lord of the Rings can be summed up in one word. That word is PERFECT.

I have seen a great many films in my life and my favorites would have to be the saga pieces. This saga is a mind blowing masterpiece and getting Oscar for best picture in 2003 sealed its page in the book of fantastic films. I will not review each film individually because they are not meant to be seen individually. The cast is brilliant and the fact that not a single actor was singled out for an individual performance only made it better. The creation of these films was a team effort. Yes there are a few major plot points removed from these films and there are some things that were changed around. I feel as a person who has read the novels and seen the films, feel that these changes were for the best. The books themselves have some dead spots that could be done without and there are characters that really have no place in the story as a whole, but it was very admirable of Jackson to pay homage to the fan favorite Tom Bombadil in the extended edition of `The Two Towers’. The extended editions of these films only make them better as they do make them lengthier. Jackson and the crew really wanted to make these films special so once they did their job in the theaters they called the cast and crew back to add new scenes and extend old ones to make the films truer to the story and enhance the development of the characters. The score done beautifully by Howard Shore is also extended and you can even purchase extended edition soundtracks. The special effects played a major role in this film and they worked the creatures looked extremely lifelike especially Gollum. By using a brand new kind of CGI technology called motion capture, Andy Sirkis was transformed into the somber, mysterious creature that LOTR fans love. The battle sequences in breathtaking and so intense there were moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. The ability to make actors like Elijah Wood and John Rys-Davis look like they were pint size compared to a towering Orlando Bloom or Ian McKellen was done flawlessly. The make-up on all the cast members be it Orc or Elf really brought the Tolkien world off the pages and into reality. Still, I feel that what truly made this film beautiful was the location. New Zealand is a lost world most of the country still untouched by industry. The land still looks like something out of a fairy tale. Through computers and sets, The Shire, Minas Tirith, Rivendell and all the other major cities were brought to life exactly as they are described in the novels.

Even if you are not a fan, I would still suggest seeing these three films. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are fantasy or anything to that extent. It’s just because this cinematic marvel goes up there with films such as Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, and Lawrence of Arabia to the more modern day greats like Dances With Wolves and Braveheart. There probably will come a day where a film graces the big screen with this degree of grandeur, but I am quite sure it will be a long time until then.

5 Stars Great movies.
Nnot completely accurate to the books, but let’s face it, each movie would be as long as the combined trilogy if they were. Good movies.

5 Stars Makes the movies even MORE than they already are!
I got the theatrical version of Fellowship of the Ring when it came out. I didnt know the extended version would be released later. When the Two Towers and Return of the King came out I got the extended versions of them. I ended up trading in my theatrical version of Fellowship and buying the extended version. These are absolutely worth everything. Most movies that have extended or deleted scenes just throw them in a menu to watch all out of order. In this, the extended and deleted scenes are put INTO the movie, making each movie 30-50 minutes LONGER! After seeing the extended versions of these movies you will never want to think of the theatrical versions again. Plus, if you’re someone like me and enjoy things looking badass on a shelf, these bulky book looking boxes are awesome collectibles that will spice up your DVD shelf.

Even without the two disks per film of bonus features, these are worth it just for the extended versions of the films. If you have the regular versions, I would recommend taking them somewhere that buys used DVDs and using the money towards buying these.

5 Stars Good Stuff
I orderd this as a replacement for one that my friend “borrowed” and never returned to me before I moved. I am happy with the transaction, the only difference that I noticed between my previous copy and the one that I ordered was with the exterior case/box. The design is slightly different, it makes the case look like a well loved/read leather bound book a little tattered, but this had no effect on the DVD’s playback.

Trailer Park Boys The Movie

Trailer Park Boys The Movie

51ZldlG5%2B6L. SL75 Trailer Park Boys The Movie

From producer Ivan Reitman comes Trailer Park Boys: The Movie a comedy full of drugs alcohol and strippers. When the raunchy ruckus residents of Sunnyvale Trailer Park Ricky Julian and Bubbles end up in prison they hatch a plan to pull off the “Big Dirty”. With world wide box office success and a hit TV show Trailer Park Boys: The Movie is guaranteed to be a smash hit!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Best film ever made!
If we could all live our lives as the Boys do, the world would be a much better place!

3 Stars Are you a Trailer Park Boys Fan?
If you already love Julian, Ricky and Bubbles and are just looking to finish off your collection of the Trailer Park Boys…then by all means, spend your money on this movie. If you are new to the “Boys” then your money would be better spent on a season of the series – better yet the entire season of the series! Trailer Park Boys: The Complete Series This movie follows the same premise as pretty much every episode of the series – funny bad idea followed by more funny bad ideas with some recreational drug & alcohol use thrown in with badly quoted sayings – and somehow manages to only contain about a quarter of the laughs. The production values and cameras seem to be of better quality, if that is something that is important to you; but the “documentary” style shooting of the original series has always been part of the charm for me. One plus to purchasing this movie is that the extras, especially the lost interviews, are almost worth the price of the DVD for any fan.

5 Stars TPB Fans Enjoy!
If you have seen Trailer Park Boys and like the show, you will love this movie, too. If you haven’t seen TPB yet, I suggest watch the show first, maybe a few episodes.

Funny show! Great movie!

4 Stars trailer park boys – the movie
Totally funny and true trailer park boy quality. A hidden treasure people are missing out on. Love it! Makes me laugh non-stop

5 Stars Trailer Park Boys-The Movie
I came across the Trailer Park Boys by the way of Netflix. I saw this movie first and after laughing out loud for almost the whole movie I went back to Netflix and ended up ordering the whole Trailer Park Boys series season 1-7!!

Shown mostly in Canada, but now available I believe on the Dish Network, they have to be the funniest series I have ever seen. The movie is so well written and acted it feels like you have been watching only 10 minutes when the credits start to roll!!

If you like to laugh this is a MUST SEE movie!!!

Saturday Night Live The Complete Third Season

Saturday Night Live The Complete Third Season

51g1t0QgXKL. SL75 Saturday Night Live The Complete Third Season

Television history continued to be written in the third year of Saturday Night Live. After a wobbly debut in SNL’s second season, Bill Murray got some traction as a performer and America began to see just how brilliant a comedian he truly could be. Dan Aykroyd owned Jimmy Carter with his extraordinary impression of the late-1970s president, and he partnered with Steve Martin three times in Festrunk Brothers sketches featuring the “wild and crazy” Czech siblings looking for a “swinging” time with American “foxes.” John Belushi mined familiar territory with his image as a brash reprobate, Jane Curtin (with Aykroyd) made “Weekend Update” her own, and Garrett Morris remained a rock-steady second banana. Laraine Newman proved, as always, to be the cast’s chameleon-like wild card, capable of anything. As for Gilda Radner, her luminous charm and gifts in the classic television comedienne tradition balanced the show’s steep irony with pure mirth. There is so much to talk about when listing highlights of Saturday Night Live: The Complete Third Season. The attention-grabbing “Anyone Can Host” contest was a cute stunt that resulted in SNL’s Christmas episode being officially hosted by 80-year-old Miskell Spillman, a non-celebrity. Spillman proved game enough to pull off an opening monologue (with Buck Henry) and participate in several sketches. But the truly notable event in that December 17, 1977 program was the first appearance of Elvis Costello (replacing the previously-announced Sex Pistols), who underscored the dangers of live television by interrupting his own performance of “Less Than Zero” and instructing his band, the Attractions, to play “Radio Radio” instead. (For a moment, no one watching could have predicted what was about to happen–whether benign or bizarre.) Also of significance to longtime viewers of SNL was the return of Chevy Chase (on 2/18/78), the show’s first breakout star who left the series early in season two, as host. By now, the story of Chase’s backstage brawl with Murray just before showtime that night is legend, and it’s easy to see how flustered Chase looked in a clunky opening monologue. (He recovers sufficiently for some fine sketchwork and a cameo appearance harassing Curtin on “Update.”) Andy Kaufman did one of his best bits portraying a non-English-speaking comic who plays drums and drags a woman out of the audience for a nonsensical sight gag. The Coneheads (Aykroyd, Curtin, Newman) return in a very funny “Family Feud” piece, while Al Franken and Tom Davis continue to have an impact with a sketch that finds Franken attacking his own parents. Belushi mixes pop culture influences in a big way in “Samurai Night Fever.” Hosting three times, Steve Martin makes as huge an impression on season three as anyone, introducing his musical novelty number “King Tut” and playing a lonely lover in a wistful-slapstick sketch in which he dances with Radner.

The overall slate of musical guests is good though not great, and except for Costello, Randy Newman, Keith Jarrett, and Paul Simon, the artists tend toward middle-of-the-road. Besides Martin, there are a few other strong hosts, including Buck Henry and a magnificent Michael Palin, who opens his show by dumping a plate of seafood and two cats down his pants. Faring less well as hosts are O.J. Simpson, Hugh Hefner, and Michael Sarrazin. As always, there are hits and misses over the course of another sprawling season of Saturday Night Live. –Tom Keogh

5 Stars It’s a blast
This set is funny. Steve Martin is wild and crazy. You can’t go wrong buying this one, lots of laughs

5 Stars ACES!
It is hard to better the original cast as whole. Individuals have done it but not an entire cast.
